To paraphrase the classic children's television show, Sesame Street, “this week's show is brought to you by the letter K”! Well, it's another one of those weeks where instead of me coming up with the format, the format comes up with itself!
You see, I just picked 30 or so great songs from my collection, just like I do every week. And as I started putting the playlist into a reasonable order, I found that a high percentage of these artists have names that begin with the letter K. So there's our theme for this week!
We visited with San Francisco Bay Area-based Kate Burkart a few weeks ago on the show. This week, we'll hear one of her elegant Americana tunes featuring her golden warm, intimate vocals.

Kaz Murphy is a Los Angeles-based Americana singer-songwriter. A few years ago, he put out what I consider to be one of the finest indie albums of the last decade, “Home For Misfits”. You'll get to hear a track from it and see why.
Kat Jones, originally from Fresno, California, moved to country music headquarters Nashville a few years back. But don't let her location fool you—she makes some of the most sultry, shimmery, and intense alternative music out there. We'll sample from her album La Rosa, La Calavera.

But if Kate, Kaz, and Kat weren't enough to show our appreciation for the letter K, we've got a New York City band on tap who actually named themselves after the eleventh letter of the alphabet, The K's! Energetic singer Dan Kilian (note the K in his name too) told me that the name stems from the crunchy sound of the letter, which exemplifies their music. We'll hear a timely track from this powerhouse band on the show.
Kate, Kaz, Kat, and the K's. What a great use of the letter K!
